We must not skip the first steps of seeking God and His word first, but sometimes it is necessary to lay our decisions out before other Godly peers or mentors for evaluation and guidance so we may not be fooled by our own desires. “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” ~Proverbs 15:22 When we are conflicted in our decision, or our motives may be skewed, scripture tells us that there is much wisdom in seeking counsel. Some decisions are difficult to come to conclusion on even with the most sincere questions and heart seeking. And the good news is even if you have compromised your integrity in the past, of if you do it again, there is repentance and grace at the feet of Jesus. We also cannot walk in fear when trying to make a decision. In addition, I believe there is GRACE for us if our hearts are softened to Lord. So ask yourself if you are compromising your integrity to gain something other than the glorification of God’s holy name. Our integrity is compromised when we find that our words, actions, and values do not align. “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” ~Proverbs 10:9Īs believers, we have something even more important than our reputation, and that is the witness of the gospel. So we should ensure our decisions align with the things we say and believe are important to us. Will this hinder my witness for the Lord or jeopardize my integrity?Įven if we haven’t written them down, each of us instinctively knows what we value and what we say is important to us.
